The American Welding Society (AWS) was founded in 1919 as a multifaceted, nonprofit organization with a goal to advance the science, technology and application of welding and related joining disciplines.
AWS invests significant financial, volunteer, staff, and other valuable resources to maintain its reputation and brand. AWS owns many trademarks, service marks and copyrighted materials worldwide. AWS has the exclusive right to use its copyrighted works and trademarks, and has a legal responsibility and right to protect its intellectual property.
Standards, specifications, publications, examinations, and other content and materials published by AWS, in particular, are protected by United States and international copyright laws, and may not be copied, reposted, redistributed, resold or otherwise used for financial or other gain. This prohibition applies regardless of the media in which AWS materials appear, e.g., print, electronic, photographic, video, audio, CD-ROM, etc.
AWS regularly reviews postings on eBay and does and will enforce its intellectual property rights to the full extent under appropriate law. AWS will vigorously and aggressively pursue companies and individuals that infringe upon or otherwise misuse AWS’ trademarks, service marks, copyrights or other intellectual property. If necessary AWS will take infringers to court, where it will seek all the remedies for copyright and trademark infringement available under federal law, including damages and injunctive relief.
